Karl Lagerfeld is an extraordinary man. The designer, took a few minutes after his Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2010 show to be interviewed on the creation of his collection, overall views on fashion and how he is so over Hollywood red carpet gowns. This time around he stretched back to the 1920s and 30s– an era where women never wore long gowns. Back then the elegance in a garment was etched in design, from the embroidery, embellishment, and the structure.

When images of his show first hit the web I really didn’t think too much of it. It was just Karl being Karl, presenting another collection that was different from the rest. Watching this video interview was almost like a lesson in fashion history. I have a fonder understanding of his inspiration point and as he broke down each piece (like those boots) I became more excited.
