Afrobella and Taren Guy at Curls Unleashed Launch Party
A kaleidoscope of natural hair beauties is the best way I can describe the Curls Unleashed Launch Party. Held at the Carlton Hotel in midtown Manhattan, this event showed the variety of natural hair. From transitioners to veteran naturals — an array of experience, knowledge and positivity moved through the air. As I walked to the coat-check I spotted Taren Guy aka Taren916 — the host of the evening and natural hair and beauty YouTube Vlogger. As the night went on more natural hair “celebs” filled the space. Kim Coles, AfroBella, Sherry Blossom, and Ahsiek118 were just some of the amazing ladies in attendance.
In attempt to make my way to the products table I ran into Candace Morrison, one of the brand managers for Organic Root Stimulator. She gave me a briefing on the new product line. “Curls Unleashed” was designed to cater to curly hair and all seven products were made and developed by their in-house chemist, Erica Douglas along with a full team of curlies. The product price points range from $10.99-$14.99. I can be a bit picky about the products I use in my hair, so let me say that I will not purchase a product if I do not like the scent. Surprisingly each product she handed to me smelled delicious.
As I prepared to call it a night I was gifted a jar of No Restrictions Moisturizing Conditioner. Overall it was a wonderful event and I am excited to test out these products.
